SUNDAY SANKEY SINGING
The Cwmbran Salvation Army Band, who led the Sankey Sing at Gwehelog
for the first time.
The assembled congregation - inside the chapel (many more sang
outside!)
Members of Larry Gordon's Village Harmony touring group, who visited
on the Sunday.
Ken Baddley assumed the pastoral role for the morning's singing and
prayer. Dave Richardson (behind, right) lends support on the tenor
line, with Ted Brown (Bass).
The Conductor of the Cwmbran Band, David Horne, who led from his wheel
chair, and who so obviously enjoyed the wall of joyful song coming from
behind.
Hark! How the Gospel Trumpet sounds! Young and old
members of the Band, alike have many of the tunes we sang in their
repertoire. Ken wrote out several more favourites for them as well.
The part of the band which gave the drive to the morning - the bass
drum. Instructions given to the drummer were "just keep
hitting it as hard as you can!" Jenny Ellis looks on.
The band enjoyed themselves so much that they invited themselves to next
year's Sunday Sankey session.
