The Southall Sacred Harp singing school day was called to order by Sarah Leedham leading 171.  Ted Brown offered the morning prayer. The following officers were elected or appointed to serve: Chairman -- Sarah Leedham; Arranging Committee -- Dave Richardson; Treasurer -- Ted Brown; Secretaries -- Rebecca Over, Nick Hall, Jan Lawrence.

Michael Walker taught a singing school during which the class received instruction on the shape note system, major and minor scales and the importance of time, tune and accent.  The following songs were used during the singing school: 45t, 42, 198, 49b, 131b, 312b, 176t, 159, 40, 168.


Michael Walker called the class back together and resumed his singing school using 153, 354t.  After this open singing commenced.  Leaders: Michael Walker 445; Rebecca Over 385b; Edwin Macadam 117; Jan Lawrence 34b; Helen Brown 47t: Nick Hall 63; Sheila Girling Macadam 361; Tom Gerber 448t.  Sarah Leedham offered grace for the noon meal.


Ted Brown called the afternoon session together by leading 225t.  Leaders: Rachel Jordan 40; Jacqui Selby-Macleod 122; Dave Richardson 452; Michael Walker 101t; Rebecca Over 460; Edwin Macadam 73b; Helen Brown 49t; Nick Hall 47b; Sheila Girling Macadam 38b; Tom Gerber 282; Rachel Jordan 481; Ted Brown 72b; Jacqui Selby-Macleod 70t; Dave Richardson 27; Michael Walker 53, 168.


Michael Walker called the class back together by leading 131b.  Leaders: Rebecca Over 381; Jan Lawrence 277; Helen Brown 354t; Nick Hall 150; Tom Gerber 284; Rachel Jordan 146; Ted Brown 49b; Dave Richardson 159; Jacqui Selby-Macleod 134; Michael Walker 176t.

Following announcements Sarah Leedham thanked all who had worked to make this singing day possible and led 347 as the closing song.  Helen Brown offered the closing prayer and the class was dismissed.

During the day a total of 50 songs, including repeats of 7 used in the singing school, were led by 12 leaders.
